Services Committee |
The Academic Services Committee is charged with developing, sponsoring, supervising, and recommending activities and policies which enhance the academic environment on campus.

The Committee consists of one faculty member from each division, one professional librarian, the Executive Director of Instructional and Information Technology and the Student Government Vice President for Programs.

The Academic Services Committee coordinates public assemblies, concerts, research presentations and other programs. The committee maintains a master list of events which count toward the Cultural Enrichment requirement and approves additions to the list. The current Cultural Enrichment contact is John Williams.
The committee administers the distribution of Undergraduate Research funds, which supports the pursuit of scholarly activities by students and the presentation of this work at scholarly meetings. The Learned Society supports faculty in attending scholarly meetings. The current contacts for the Learned Society are David Barrett and Bill McCoy. Click on the following link to access policies for reimbursement and forms to reserve and claim Learned Society funds. Please note that it is important to reserve funding as soon as plans are made to attend meetings for the current academic year. Requests have exceed funding for several years.
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is the College's mechanism for approving projects that involve human subjects. Any project that voluntarily or involuntarily involves human subjects must be approved by the IRB if the results are to be used or discussed outside the College community. The Academic Services Committee is also the forum for discussion and formulation and recommendation of policies concerning library, academic computing, and any other College program or entity that supports the academic program.
