Beta Beta Tau Chapter, LaGrange College...

The Beta Beta Tau Chapter started May 18, 2003 as the LaGrange College Colony under the leadership of Kappa Zeta Sigma Graduate Chapter of Warner Robins, Georgia and with four brothers, Bro. Ronnie Washington, Bro. Marvin Burton, Bro. Arshaad Norwood, and Bro. Maurice Smith. Following those three, two more brothers were crossed in fall of 2004 and in spring of 2005, the LaGrange College Colony crossed five additional brothers before receiving their charter in the late spring of 2006. Since the creation of the colony/chapter, the brothers that make up the organization have worked hard in upholding the key principles of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.: “Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service.”

Activities:

The brothers of LaGrange College have dedicated their existence on campus around the development of the college and the community. We have initiated or participated in the following events in the 2005-2006 school year and we hope continue on this dedication to service and social activities, as well as offer new and exciting events. Tutoring program with Macedonia Baptist Church, Halloween on the Square, Fair on the Square, Homecoming Projects, Blue Family Weekend, Thanksgiving Can Food Drive, Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas with Eggleston Project, Relay for Life, and the Carnation Ball.

Plans and Vision:

We plan and vision the continuance the deep-root planting of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. with our newly granted charter and to expand the ideal of “Historically Black Fraternities and Sororities” among the LaGrange College Campus. We also plan and vision our growth in new membership, those who strive to become servant leaders, as well as uphold the principles and duties of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. without wavering. The key here is quality, not quantity.

Challenges:

To overcome the status of a small organization, thus becoming a major factor in the life of LaGrange College, as well as, to motivate others to understand and respect the importance of a historically black organization, not as a separate entity, but as an inclusive voice for the Greek Family.
