History

at LaGrange College

The faculty of the Department of History believe that all persons, whatever their selected role in life, require an understanding of their past in order to prepare for their future. We firmly believe that the liberal arts preparation, which encompasses courses from the discipline of history, provides the student with the most appropriate educational background for life by integrating knowledge from the broadest range of disciplines. The department's objective is to provide each student at LaGrange College with knowledge of the historical forces that have shaped civilization, as we know it. Our faculty offer course work in a variety of historical periods. As part of our mission to support the students of LaGrange College in their efforts to understand the past, we have prepared this website which, as it grows and develops, will include not just course syllabi, related links and curricula vitae, but samples of faculty, student and staff research as well.
