WebCT "Terms" Implemented
Jan. 4, 2007
WebCT Courses have been assigned to "Terms" that closely
parallel the Academic Terms of the College's Calendar. Information
about this was presented at the January Faculty Meeting. The presentation
is located under WebCT Documents and Instructions as the policy document.
Instructors will need to request courses to be created each term they are
taught. Course can be created as copies of previous term's
courses. Please submit a Helpdesk Ticket or email wmccoy@lagrange.edu
to have courses set up.
SPSS Upgrade to Version 14.0.2
SPSS, a Statistics Package for the Social Sciences, is an industry standard
statistics package. We license SPSS Base and SPSS Advanced
Models. During August, the upgraded versions will be installed in
computer laboratories and faculty offices. During the upgrade, Version
13 will continue to work. If your office was overlooked in this
process, or you wish to have SPSS installed, please submit a HelpDesk ticket.
WebCT will remain at Version 4.1
With the acquisition of WebCT by competitor BlackBoard, the immediate
need to pursue Version 6 is not pressing. Version 6 requires additional
hardware, software and support expertise beyond our current holdings,
abilities and funding. There was no Version 5, and Version 4.1 is the
most up-to-date of the 4 series, and is currently supported by the combined
company.
Other possible Course Management/ Learning Management Solutions are being
investigated. Should a change be necessary, a committee will be
appointed to decide on the direction of that change and will seek input from
faculty using WebCT. The earliest date for migration would be Fall
2007.
